There is a small setup file contains the music in the compact TFMX format, the original from the Amiga. The large setup file is identical with the small one except for additional MP3 music files.
The reason is, that the TFMX player and the T2002 sound engine cannot access the soundcard simultaneously in Windows 98, whereas the device management in Windows 2000/XP allows this. But sometimes, even in Windows XP there is the problem, that the music stops after about 15 seconds. At the moment, we have no solution except recommending MP3 music. On the other hand, the TFMX-Player may work in Windows 98SE/Me, if WDM drivers (Windows Driver Model) for your soundcard are installed. By the way, the quality of TFMX and MP3 is identical because the MP3 files were made from the TMFX files.
Both versions support music output from the Turrican Soundtrack CD. So, the small version will suffice even for users, who have problems with TFMX, if they have the CD or can do without music.
If you collect 100 diamonds, you'll get one "Continue". For every "Continue" one of the red lights in the lower left corner of the screen will light up. Five "Continues" turn on the big light.
When losing all lives, it costs one "Continue" to restart at the beginning of the current level. Without a "Continue" the game is over and you have to restart from the beginning of the first level.
If you have at least five "Continues" (big light), the game will be saved, when you quit with <ESC>. This costs five "Continues". But not the whole game state is saved, only the collected extras in the status bar, the score and the current level. Later, you can restart at the beginning of that level with the main menu option "Continue". This works even after you lost all your lives, until you save again by pressing <ESC>.
Update: Since T2002E the game state is automatically saved after each level and can be loaded by selecting "Continue" from the main menu.
At first install the newest stable graphics card and main board drivers. Turn off v-sync and anti-aliasing in your graphics driver. The original version of T2002 uses DirectDraw whereas T2002 Patch and T2002E use Direct3D. The latter is usually better but on older hardware it may be the other way round.
First you have to know, that after activating joystick support in the options menu, you need to change the input settings in "Input Config".
A solution for system configuration problems in Windows XP was found by T.R.Schmidt from Turrican SETA, who froze it in a screenshot.
